Seattle Public Schools considering raising Adult Athletic Field Fees Again!!!
Seattle Public Schools apparently is considering raising field fees again even though they're already the highest rates for lit, synthetic public fields in the region. While we understand the budget problems that Seattle Schools is experiencing, we don't feel that it's fair for them to take advantage of adult field users who already willingly subsidize early evening hours for youth play. In the spirit of the Seattle Joint Use Agreement we ask that Seattle Public Schools reconsider their policies regarding adult field fees.
Seattle Schools previously failed to inform everyone that when they reduced the field fee to $60/hr for 2005, it only applied to baseball fields! This came on the heels of unilaterally raising field fees in 2005 to the highest rate among any public facility in the region. Adult athletes should not be forced to bear the burden by paying $95/hour for a multi-use rectangular field.
All field users are encouraged to contact Seattle Schools and let them know how you feel - this means you soccer, ultimate, football, rugby, and lacrosse players.
